pregnancy, honouring the female body and giving gratitude for the blessing of motherhood is an old tradition that I want to bring back. Assisting women to reconnect with their divine feminine power and strength.
The artistic services I am offering here can be done individually or as a package. They are all creative ways to acknowledge and support a woman during her magical time of pregnancy. There are not many times in a woman's life where she is pregnant, so during this time it is a real opportunity to cherish, celebrate and embrace the glorious journey to motherhood.
It may be 9 months before a mother holds her baby but there are many ways to bond before you get to hug your angel, from singing, breathing exercises, massage, yoga to belly painting! There is evidence to show that starting your bonding process during prenatal period lowers the chance of postpartum depression.
Painting a pregnant woman is actually an ancient tradition, it's like a blessing, for mother and child. In ancient Egypt for example, the mother-to-be would have her belly painted with specific symbols to offer protection for herself and her baby. This tradition permeates through India, South Asia, the Middle East, North Africa. Even the Native Americans had a pre-birth tradition which involved belly painting called a 'blessingsway, or 'Mother Blessing'. This is a Navajo ceremony, which celebrates a woman's rite of passage into motherhood.
The ideal time to have your belly painted is between 6-8 months, or when mama is most comfortable.
First I will have a Free Consultation (before our session takes place) with the Mother-to-be to discuss a healing mandala design, pattern and colours.
